- Most common in men with curly hair.
- Occur on the neck, face and back of head.
- Causes discomfort and skin irritation and can be very painful.
- Where bumps are formed, these can become infected and develop into ugly and unsightly pustules (pimples).
- The uneven bumps make if difficult to shave and using a blade can often lead to painful cuts and bleeding.
- The skin in the infected area will be itchy and become darkened or red, resulting in uneven skin tone.
- If left untreated this skin condition can develop into hard, dark, keloid like bumps and scarring of the skin.
